From Classroom to Community: My Professional Year Journey Featured in the ACS Newsletter
When I began my Professional Year (PY) at Queensland International Business Academy (QIBA), I knew it would help me understand the Australian workplace culture and improve my professional skills. What I didn’t expect was how quickly it would open doors to real industry connections and recognition.
One of the pivotal moments came when I attended my very first Australian Computer Society (ACS) webinar. It was an eye-opening session, giving me insights into communication, networking, and professional growth in the IT sector. Inspired, I shared my reflections in an article—simply to capture my thoughts and share with peers.
To my surprise, ACS noticed my post and chose to feature it in their official newsletter. It was humbling to see my voice amplified to such a large professional audience.
“Sometimes, the simple act of showing up, listening, and sharing your perspective can create opportunities you never imagined.”
Why This Recognition Matters
Being featured wasn’t just about the article—it was validation that confidence, authenticity, and proactive engagement matter in professional spaces. My PY at QIBA has been instrumental in giving me the confidence to take these steps: engaging in webinars, networking with peers and mentors, and sharing my learning journey openly.
I’m deeply grateful to both QIBA and ACS—QIBA for creating an encouraging learning environment, and ACS for building platforms where emerging IT professionals like myself can be heard.
This milestone reminds me that every small step—whether it’s attending an event, asking a question, or writing a post—can lead to something greater. I’m excited to continue building my career, contributing to the IT community, and sharing my journey with others.
Special thanks to the ACS NSW Emerging Professional Committee for encouraging and guiding students, and to QIBA for equipping us with the skills and mindset to thrive.
